It’s September, the beginning of the ‘EMBER’ months, or as some would say – the beginning of the end. We’ve got only three months more before the end of the year!
We have spent a whooping nine months out of twelve for the year 2021. For many, the month of September signals the end of summer, the beginning of autumn, and the start of a new school year. With respect to the calendar, September marks the beginning of the series of months named after their numerical position in the year.
With the end of September comes a heightened level of caution and activity. Caution – to drive carefully, to not walk late nights, to be mindful of where one goes, etc, and activity – to meet up with goals set at the beginning of the year, to make sure to do and be done with those things you don’t want to do in the new year.
Let’s reminisce about some news that broke in the month of September. Yaba LCDA launched its maiden football tournament, with cash prizes for the contenders and empowered youths in vocational skills; Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade lost his dear wife, Risikat Adegeye; and Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ going platinum in the US of A, the first ever Nigerian song to break that record.
It is always a good feeling when a fellow Nigerian represents us well in the Western World, and a ‘kid’ from Ojuelegba no less.
