Yaba LCDA stages maiden football tournament

Football remains most followed sport among others. It is no wonder the Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr) Kayode Adejare Omiyale started the sports tournament of his administration with Honourable Omiyale’s Under-14 Maiden Edition Football Cup, where qualified players in the LCDA were chosen to participate.

The final match was played between Omiyale Boys and Bamise God FC, while Dragon FC and Talented FC, Abule-Oja wrestled for 3rd place.

The winners were rewarded with N150,000 cash price, 2nd place holders were rewarded with N100,000 cash price, 3rd and 4th in position were rewarded with N70,000 and N50,000 cash prices respectively.

The Chairman in his remarks said, “Football is one of the events that unites everyone irrespective of tribe, religion or status.

“Football can be used to take the youths off of social vices, and it can also trigger development and investment opportunities with those who want to be professionals.”

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Sport Hon. Zulu Ajiboye (Babaewe), appreciated the initiative of the chairman and implored other chairmen to emulate him for all to strive to “take the boys off the streets.”

Also, one of participants Mudashir Fuad appreciated the kind gesture and requested that it should be an annual tournament. Onitiju Fuad of Omiyale Boys also supported the motion and requested for more tournaments such as this.

Present at the event were the Vice Chairman Hon. Bolanle Aileru, Agbakin of Yaba, Alhaji Mudashir Odetunde, youths, party faithful and other football lovers.
