Local Government Service Commission visits Yaba LCDA

As part of efforts in ensuring adequate compliance, the Local Government Service Commission, on Friday, paid a visit to Yaba LCDA headquarters. The team led by Chairman Hon. Kamal Bayewu , other commissioners, permanent secretaries, and others commended the Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Kayode Adejare Omiyale and described him as one of the best chairmen in Lagos State LG/LCDAs, as a result of rapid developmental change seen compared to the last visit.

The LGSC chairman remarked, “We’re glad that you are performing and staff welfare is germane to your administration, though the staff bus is yet to be acquired for them”. Another area of concern noted by Hon. Bayewu is the activities of traffic management officers who extort unsuspected motorists in the LCDA.

To these, the mayor responded that provision has been made for staff bus in this year 2022 budget. The chairman also said that the current administration has no traffic management officers, and that those seen are illegal persons disguised as officers from Yaba LCDA and he stated how he ensured some of them were arrested by a security agency to stop maligning the name of the LCDA.

In furtherance, Hon. Akeem Bamgbola, one of the commissioners also eulogized the council boss and encouraged him to improve on Internal Generated Revenue (IGR). He canvassed more to be done to increase IGR without causing citizens distress, “Think out of the box to make ends meet” he said.

The Permanent Secretary, LGSC Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye stressed staff punctuality and made reference to punishment meted against erred officers on various degrees of misconduct. The Permanent Secretary, Training, Establishment and Pension Mrs. Bolarinwa Kikelomo also emphasised the need to attend training and self-development to be productive.

The acme of the visit is the commissioning of ICT Department by the LGSC Chairman Hon.Kamal Bayewu. The office is well equipped with modern technology and devices needed to be functional as expected.

The Head of Administration Yaba LCDA Otunba Layiwola Giwa gave vote of thanks and promised that it’s work in progress as the good work and improvement will continue.
