Omiyale condoles with victims of Makoko inferno

The mayor of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Kayode Adejare Omiyale empathised with victims of inferno at Makoko, a suburb area of the LCDA.

The incident was attributed to an electrical spark which was said to have emanated from a building and negatively affected almost 50 houses and shops.

While addressing the community, he said, “We should imbibe the habit of switching off of electrical appliances during power outage. If this had been done, we may not be here. On this note, let’s try as much as possible to have lesser electrical appliances plugged in a power extension box that is not wired for much capacity. We cannot be too careful on safety and security of life and property.”

He was glad that no life was lost and immediately set up a 5-man committee comprised of the Councillor of the ward, Hon. Kazeem Adebola, Mr Olanrewaju Ilori, the CDA Chairman and 2 representatives from the area to ascertain genuine victims for relief intervention from his government.

He allayed the fears of the people and promised that the government has no aim to take possession of the area.

An APC chieftain, Chief Mudashiru Odetunde (Muda Shinner) implored the chairman to hasten his promise as victims are left with nothing at the moment.

In company of the chairman’s entourage are Head of Administration, Otunba Lai Giwa, Head Public Affairs Unit, Mr. Kehinde Daniels, among others.
