Lagos State Government has been commended for the rehabilitation work currently embarked on at Akoka/Gbagada areas of the state.
This commendation was made by the Chairman, Lagos Chapter of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Engr. Emeka Ibeh, when he led members of the institution to an industrial visit to the rehabilitation work on St Finbarr’s/Sholuyi in Kosofe Local Government Areas of the state.
The project is being anchored by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Lagos State.
“We are very impressed with the level of work done so far, even though, this visit is at the early stage of the project, the contractors are still acquiring right of way and embarked on necessary demolition of those buildings that encroached into the right of way, it is not an easy task but the benefit is worth the effort expended”, he (Engr Ibeh) said.
Also speaking, National Vice Chairman of the institution, Engr. Lola Adetona, who spoke during the visit said, “We had observed the works from the Deeper Life Bible Church end at Gbagada, Sholuyi, and St Finbarr’s, the proposed road will now extend from a single into dual carriageway; the current improvement will expand each carriage from 3.51m to 6m with provision for sidewalk and drainage.
“It is a good project initiated at the right time; the demolition of buildings that have encroached into the right of way along St Finbarr’s Road and other sections of the project is necessary for the project to come to fruition. Upon completion, it will be beneficial to the residents of the area and Lagosians in general.”
