Yaba LCDA Donates Cash to Aged, Widows, Seeks Corporate Interventions

Kayode Omiyale, Executive Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) has distributed N10,000 token each to 100 aged persons and 50 widows in Ward K in Igbobi-Sabe area of the LCDA.

Speaking at the brief event witnessed by top officials in the council area, Omiyale said the gesture was in fulfilment of promises made by the council and continuation of the good gesture of the administration.

Omiyale who promised to extend the same gesture to other parts of the LCDA appealed to philanthropic organisations, churches, mosques and kind-hearted individuals to give attention to the aged and widows in their communities.

Omiyale said: “Retired civil servants, university administrators, judges and professors; these group of people constitute the senior citizens and those doing their own businesses in this age bracket. They have spent their youth developing the country and society; they deserve to enjoy social security.

“We may not be able to do it as it is done in other developed climes, but we shall start from somewhere and build on it. The aged are weak and feeble, we need to lend a helping hand to lift them. Children should not forget their aged parents, whatever the circumstance.”

He assured residents of the council area that his administration with the support of other management of the LCDA would not relent in extending the kind gesture in the areas of education, health, youth empowerment, provision of infrastructure and road construction to improve access in and out of the community.

He expressed appreciation to residents of the council area for their support, his Deputy, Honourable Bola Aileru, Otunba Tayo Shoyode, Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeniyi among other dignitaries for their collaborations.

One of the beneficiaries, Elder Durotola Ayelero thanked the Chairman for the kind gesture on behalf of other beneficiaries and tasked management of the council area to continue the work and extend same to increased security of lives and property, road construction and street illumination.
