Lagos Mainland LG celebrates World Tourism Day

Lagos Mainland Local Government Joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Tourism Day tagged “Rethinking Tourism with the Host Communities” at Legacy 1995 Museum Centre cocooned within the grounds of the Railway Compound, Ebute-Metta.

27th of September of every year has been set aside to celebrate World Tourism Day. In bid to promote this at the grassroot level, The Executive Chairman Hon. Omolola Rashidat Essien organized a tour visit to Legacy 1995 Museum Centre at Railway Compound, Ebute-Metta Lagos, where her cabinet members, Legislators, Management Staffs and Officers of the council were privileged to get to know and see how the railway operation was before the introduction of technological tools.

In her opening remark, the mayor said, “The whole idea of tourism is to set away time from home and our busy schedule in pursuit of getting to know our past and present historical culture in a relaxed manner whereby recreation and entertainment are not left out.”

Legacy 1995 Museum Centre is an NGO who is concerned about helping Railway Corporation to domicile their historical artifacts, iconic sites and all that has been part and parcel of railway operation module. They have preserved and protected all the facilities and equipment of railways dated far back as 80 years ago which were used to run the affairs of railway operations back in the colonial era.

Present at Legacy 1995 Museum Centre are the Council Manager, Mr. Olusegun Ajagunna, SLG Hon. Wasiu Ogunniyi, Leader of the House, Hon. Afeez Oloto and all the Legislators, Supervisor for Tourism, Hon. Bello, HOU Tourism, Mr. Ajiboye Oriyomi, all Management Staff, Public Affairs Officers, Vice President, Legacy 1995, Mr. Taiye Olaniyi, PRO Legacy 1995, Miss Grace, and Legacy 1995 Facilitator, Mr. Dewale Philips.
