Yaba LCDA holds stakeholders’ meeting in preparation for year 2023 annual budget

The leadership of Yaba LCDA organized stakeholders meeting at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall of the Council, in preparation for next year’s budget tagged “Budget of Accelerated Growth.”

The HOD Budget, Planning and Statistics, Mr. Ismail Ogunbambi, speaking at the event said, “there cannot be a successful budget without the participation and involvement of all the stakeholders concerned, this is because budget will be planned based on their request.” He also urged all the participants/representatives to participate fully and make their request known so they can be properly planned for in the 2023 budget.

The Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Kayode Adejare Omiyale, in his speech said, “this kind of gathering enhances proper planning and equal share of dividends of democracy.

“The welfare of our people is paramount to this present administration because with good roads, functional health care services, top notch educational system and the people are cheerless then the government is a failure. This is the reason this administration inculcated some programmes for the welfare of the people like monthly stipends for aged and widows, youth empowerment programme with start-up kits among others,” he added.

According to him, his administration has recorded success in the year 2022 budget so far and promised to do more in the coming year. “The reconstruction of Mainland Library that has been abandoned for the past 10 years has commenced, the library will be a full-fledged e-Library and there will be over 200 computer systems in the library, the local government will have a good working relationship with JAMB.

“This implies that the library will also double as JAMB centre for prospective undergraduates. The library will be completed and commissioned by the Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu by the first quarter of next year.”

In the same vein, the mayor also projected to reconstruct 8 roads across all the 9 wards in the Local Council Development Area by next year in collaboration with Lagos State Public Works. This body will help in the reconstruction of feeder roads that will be paid for by the local government at a cost-effective rate.

He also enjoined the citizens to exercise their civic right to the government by coming out en masse to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general election especially the Presidential candidate that hails from Lagos State.

The APC Apex Leader, Hon. Olawale Oshun also stressed the importance of the forum and encouraged the synergy between the Legislative and the Executive to continue so the local government can continue to record success in all its endeavours.

The representatives made different requests and pleas, the Executive Chairman in response, assured them that the feasible ones will be considered in the fourth coming budget and also gave reasons some would not be considered.

Also speaking at the event, Oba Igbobi-Sabe of Sabe Kingdom, Oba Owolabi Adeyemi Adeniyi appealed to the chairman to help escalate to the state government cases that needs state interventions. He also requested for a bus for Oba in council to aid their movement to functions, he enjoined the citizens to collect their PVCs and vote all APC candidates in the forthcoming general election so that the outstanding work can continue.

In attendance is the Vice Chairman, Hon. Bola Aileru, political chieftains, the Baales, the Leader of the House, the Councillors, the Council Manager, Hon. Lai Giwa, the supervisors, Ward chairmen, CDCs, CDAs, members of the force, management team amongst others.
