Sanwo-Olu Joins Two Prominent African Personalities In Honouring Victor Osimhen

Many well-known people have congratulated Victor Osimhen on his Scudetto victory, including two African presidents

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has joined the chorus of public figures congratulating Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on his Italian Scudetto victory.

The 57-year-old claims that he takes delight in watching a rising talent like Osimhen succeed and make Nigeria as a whole—not just Lagos—proud.

However he joined George Weah, the current president of Liberia, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, in congratulating Osimhen on his recent achievement.

The Parthonpeans won the 2022–23 Serie A title after the 24-year-old’s amazing goal to tie the score against Udinese, and Osimhen’s lone goal against Fiorentina sparked a big celebration for the Napoli supporters in Naples, where they lifted the trophy.

Following this, the University of Lagos alumni took to his social media platform to congratulate the €100 million rated Nigerian star.

The statement reads: “So many stories begin in Lagos and it’s always a moment of pride for me to see young people from our city achieving great things.

“A big congratulations to Victor Osimhen @victorosimhen9 on blazing the trail in the Serie A goal-scoring charts, leading your team to the league title as well as breaking George Weah’s record as the highest-scoring African in the league.

“As someone who talks about his humble roots in Lagos and continues to give back in amazing ways, we say keep flying the flag of Nigeria high with your impressive performances for Napoli.

“I look forward to working together soon to take football in Lagos to greater heights.”

The Nigerian star, having surpassed Weah’s 46 goals by netting from the penalty spot against Fiorentina, will be looking to extend his record when Luciano Spalletti’s men face Monza on Sunday.
