NUGA Calls for Support Ahead of World University Games

The Nigeria University Games (NUGA) have called for support for Nigerian students that will be partaking in the forthcoming World University Games set to take place in China, with over 10,000 participants expected from 170 nations.

The World University Games is a student-athlete competition that takes place between contestants from all over the world, where they compete for medals in a variety of sports.

The NUGA has already begun trials, as they plan to select 100 of the best students that will represent Nigeria in over seven sporting activities at the competition that will take place from July 27 to August 8, 2023, in Chengdu, China.

This is, indeed, a great opportunity for Nigerian students to showcase their talents on a global stage and bring glory to the nation.

NUGA’s Acting Secretary General, Chidiebere Ezeani, while speaking on expectations, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians from different sectors to support the contestants at the games.

He said, “Nigeria will not only participate but will also excel at the 2023 World University Games, bringing pride and joy to the nation. We are, therefore, appealing to the government, sports authorities, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to support our teams, as they represent Nigeria with honour, dignity, and sportsmanship.”
