Super Falcons Welcome Nine Players To Camp For Friendlies Ahead Of 2023 World Cup

The Super Falcons have begun their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with the arrival of nine players at their camp in Antalya.

The Nigerian female national team is hoping to improve on their previous performances when they travel to Australia and New Zealand for the tournament. In addition to the friendly games they have played so far, the Super Falcons are scheduled to play two more matches against Haiti and New Zealand this week.

Coach Randy Waldrum invited 23 players for the games, including Barcelona Femeni’s top striker, Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie, who has been absent from the squad for some time. Waldrum is still expecting 14 more players to join the camp, but the team is already gearing up for the challenge ahead.

The Super Falcons camp opened earlier this week, and the nine players who have arrived are Yewande Balogun, Regina Otu, Esther Okoronkwo, Onome Ebi, Etim Inyene, Abiodun Deborah, Halimatu Ayinde, Vivian Ikechukwu, and Glory Ogbonna. More players are expected to arrive soon.

The Nigerian women’s team will face stiff competition at the World Cup, but they will be hoping to make a strong impression on the global stage.
