The Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) commenced Year 2022 Tree Planting Day celebration with the theme: “In Harmony with Nature”, stating that the occasion would inspire a sustainable relationship between humanity and nature.
Year 2022 event, as it has always been done since 2008, took place simultaneously in all the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the State.
Representing LASPARK, Mr. Lawal Raheem encourages everyone to plant at least one tree a year.
“If you want to hear birdsongs, don’t buy a cage, rather plant a tree.
“The value of a single tree shade, they say, can help save the world.
“Scorching heat is threatening our survival on this Earth. We need to plant more trees and protect already grown trees for a healthy Environment.”
The tree-planting program in Lagos targets 50,000 trees all over Lagos State.
For this year tree-planting, The honorable Chairman, Hon. Adejare Kayode Omiyale, ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Bola Aileru hosted the event.
Party chieftains, market women and men, and other members of the community graced the occasion.
