Liverpool Beat Southampton 2-1, force title race to final match

Liverpool came from behind to beat Southampton 2-1, ensuring the English Premier League title fight would go to the last day.

The Reds, who made nine changes from the weekend’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, fell behind early to a magnificent Nathan Redmond strike.

But Jurgen Klopp’s charges rallied and a thundering Takumi Minamino goal levelled the scores before the half-time whistle. Joel Matip headed home a corner in the 67th minute to secure the win for the visitors.

With the result, Liverpool remain the only EPL team yet to lose a game in 2022, having won 15 and drawn three of their first 18 games in this calendar year.

Klopp’s side have come to within a point of Manchester City at the top of the table, meaning the title will be decided by their respective final-day showdowns with Wolves (against Liverpool) and Aston Villa (against City).
