LASG to immortalise FESTAC’s late music icon, Sound Sultan

The Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced plans to immortalise late Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi better known as Sound Sultan.

The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Solomon Bonu, said the state will celebrate Sound Sultan every December for four days in Lagos.

He announced the news at the recently concluded Festac Music Festival, which was an initiative of the late singer to raise young talents. Bonus said that the festival would now be sponsored by the State Government moving forward. 

The Special Adviser added that the present administration saw the need to support the vision of Sound Sultan, through his company – Naija Ninja Production to take youth off the streets and develop their creativity.

“The Festac Music Festival was supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to honour Sound Sultan, preserve his legacy, and appreciate his contributions to the music industry.  Festac Music Festival will hold annually for four days every December,” Bonu said.

Sound Sultan’s elder brother Dare Fasasi who is also the festival’s director expressed his gratitude to the State Government.
