LASG engages youths with employability skills

In a bid to curb unemployment and to boost jobs creations, the Lagos state government has engaged youths in the state with free soft skills training and job interviews programmes.

Announcing this development, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke disclosed on Tuesday, 30th November 2021 that the programmes were in collaboration with Jobberman Nigeria.

She said; “This programme is crucial as it will prepare our youth when evaluating organisations or institutions so as to identify recruiters’ requirements in relation to skills and attributes, knowing likely questions posed at interviews and learning good approaches in answering different types of interview questions.

“Collaborations like this are always welcome and encouraging to complement the efforts of the present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his training of youths in employability soft skills, job interviews and addressing the challenges of unemployment in the state by ensuring that youths are engaged and are not left behind in the scheme of things.”

Also, the Youth Engagement Associate, Jobberman, Mr Damilola Odubanjo, explained that youths need more than academic skills to be employable.
