LGSC holds awareness & enlightenment session for public affairs unit officers

The Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Kayode Adejare Omiyale hosted the Chairman, commissioners, Permanent Secretary, and other members of the Local Government Service Commission for a 1-day sensitisation programme.

The Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Kamal Bayewu during his welcome address encouraged all Public Affairs Officers to be good ambassadors of their respective Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas. “As image makers, you need to raise the bar and be more proactive for optimal productive output to the development of your local government/local council development areas.”

He emphasised on the need to brainstorm on production of monthly newletters for the Local Government Service Commission which comprises all their activities.

In furtherance, the Guest Speaker/Resource Person and ex-Commissioner of Information in Lagos State, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan stated the need to focus on perception management of the Local Government/Local Council Development Areas. He expatiated that the primary role of the Public Affairs officer is to project the Executive, Legislative, Management and members of staff in good light to the people and inform grassroots people on their achievement and get feedback from the people on perception of the Government.

“Ensure a smooth relationship between the people and the Government, amplify the works of Government and state the need for the people to perform their civic responsibility, and design a master plan on communication which should be forwarded to Local Government Service Commission.”

The newly elected Conference 57 Public Affairs officers president, Mr. Temitope Kuku gave the vote of thanks.

The roll call was graced by the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, the directors, and others.
