Two motorcyclists shot dead by robbers in Lagos

Two motorcyclists (Okada) have been shot dead by armed robbers around the Abule Ijesha and Yaba College of Technology Bus Stop areas of Lagos State.

The motorcyclists, Sheriff Sulaiman and Sanni Abubakar, were together at the Abule Ijesha Junction waiting for passengers when the armed robbers shot Sulaiman in the head, according to eyewitnesses.

It was learnt that Sulaiman, a father of one, died on the spot he was shot by the assailants.

It was further gathered that immediately Suleiman was hit by the bullet, Abubakar, who witnessed the incident, raised the alarm and sped off to escape being attacked by the armed robbers.

However, the assailants, who took Suleiman’s motorcycle, trailed Abubakar down to the Yabatech Bus Stop and shot him dead.

While the corpse of Sulaiman has been transported to his hometown in Katsina State, where he has since been buried, Abubakar has also been buried in Jigawa State.

As gathered, the incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, noting that efforts were on to arrest the assailants behind the killings.

“On June 23, 2021, Abu Tairu reported at the station that around 5.30 am, his brother, Sheriff Sulaiman, 30, was shot dead and his unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was taken away at Abule Ijesha Bus Stop.

“He stated further that one Sanni Abubakar, 29, who witnessed the incident and raised the alarm on the operation, was trailed and shot dead at Abule Ijesha, by Yabatech, while his motorcycle was also taken away.

“The corpses were about to be moved to the morgue when the relatives of the deceased bluntly refused that based on their religion, they did not want embalmment and autopsy to be conducted. Efforts are on to track the perpetrators,” the police spokesperson said.
