Speeding danfo tumbles on 3rd Mainland Bridge

Passengers escaped death in an accident involving a speeding yellow bus popularly known as Danfo after it tumbled on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

In what was described as a horrific accident, it was gathered that the driver lost control of the Danfo bus, as a result of a deflated tyre, causing it to tumble in the process on Tuesday evening.

The speeding bus was said to have been coming from the Lagos Island inward Oworonshoki and Ogudu when the accident occurred around 4:30 pm at the Adekunle end of the ever-busy bridge.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the vehicle tumbled twice before it eventually landed on its roof.

The passengers in the commercial bus were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries as some of them were flung out after the bus tumbled, while some motorists stopped on the Third Mainland Bridge to render help to the victims.

The occupants of the vehicle were seen on the Third Mainland Bridge shortly after the accident waiting for emergency officials who were said to be on their way to the scene of the accident.

The incident was also said to have caused heavy gridlock on the busy highway which extended to the Adekunle end of the bridge.
