Dr. Sanwo-Olu Commissions Mobile TB Screening Vans in Lagos Mainland

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has commissioned three Mobile Tuberculosis (TB) Screening X-Ray Vans equipped with sophisticated medical equipment. The launch took place at Evans Square, Ebute-Metta, in the presence of the Executive Chairman of Mainland LG, Honourable (Mrs.) Omolola Rashidat Essien and Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Honourable (Dr).Kayode Adejare Omiyale.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu said the choice of Lagos Mainland as the abode for the modern equipment was strategic, hence the residents should take full advantage of the opportunities for better welfare.

In her opening remarks, she said, “We are not unmindful of the challenges facing Primary Health Care System, this is the reason why we embarked on an assessment exercise as part of our plan to effect major and lasting transformations that will make access to healthcare facilities at the grassroots hitch-free.

“Equipped with state-of-the-art tools, we have trained medical personnel that will use these equipment for the greater advantage of our people.”

Religious and political leaders, market leaders, Community Development Associations (CDAs) and other critical stakeholders were present at the launch.

Recognizing the prime place of Primary Health Care (PHC) in the overall healthcare delivery system, the Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Honourable Omiyale advocated more synergy between the State Government and the Local Government authorities to have a robust and viable service delivery at the PHC level stressing that it would only amount to an exercise in futility if all stakeholders work at variance.

Omiyale added that primary health care is the bedrock of any health care system.

While noting that there is so much more to be done, Omiyale said good health and wellbeing of residents remain an enormous agenda that present administration will vigorously pursue.
