LASG approves commencement of vaccination exercise for pensioners

The Lagos State Government has approved the commencement of vaccination exercise for Pensioners in the State.

The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, who disclosed this recently, stated that the approval was in response to the request by the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners to be considered for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

She said that the State Government is aware of the vulnerability of the elderly to the COVID-19 infection, alongside the constraints and efforts to obtain and secure the vaccine, hence the Governor’s benevolence and approval.

Mrs. Ponnle revealed that the State Government under the able leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has acceded to the demands of the Union for Pensioners that are 70 years and above be considered for vaccination.

The Commissioner, therefore, urged Pensioners in the category to visit any Primary Healthcare Centre nearest to them to be vaccinated.
