Yaba LCDA empowers women to become self-reliant

In another edition of the annual programme, the Yaba LCDA Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department, in conjunction with Speed-Up Lagos, graduated participants of a 2-Week intensive training programme in fabrics/souvenir, makeup and gele, catering/food, home essentials production, printing, etc.

The Mayor of Yaba LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Kayode Adejare Omiyale urged graduands to utilize the opportunity given to them and implored participants to maximize the opportunity offered as an avenue to become employers of labour.

“You don’t need to wait until you get a big sum of money, you can start with the little we have given you today and make money from the comfort of your homes.”

Certificates and start-up kits were given to graduands to enable them practise skills learnt during the programme.

Head, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department, Mrs. Mutiat Shomoye encouraged the graduands not to dump or neglect the certificate being given them, to keep learning and believe in themselves.

Bamidele Haleemat one of the beneficiaries and class governor of Catering Class, on behalf of the entire class, appreciated the kind gesture of the Chairman and officials and promised to make good use of the skills learnt. Mrs Kemisola Sanni coordinator, Speed-Up Lagos appreciated the Chairman and gave vote of thanks.

Present at the event were Vice Chairman Hon. Bola Aileru, Head of Administration Otunba Lai Giwa, Council Treasurer, Mr. Ademola Jimoh Balogun and other dignitaries.
